The possibility of the direct communication between all traffic participants (V2X – Vehicle-to-Anything) adds a new quality of information to the vehicle. The exchange of the current status can occur between vehicles, pedestrians, motorbikes, bicycles, and others as well as with infrastructure such as traffic signs, traffic lights and so on. S.E.A. provides specific V2X test products and brings the required V2X technologies into the test systems.
Depending on the goal of the customer, V2X communication requires in-depth knowledge of a wide field of technologies including RF, protocols, standards, and applications.
In order to provide tailored solutions for the different requirements of V2X test systems,
S.E.A. has developed a set of different communication products based on National Instruments hardware and software technologies.
The 802.11p stack is implemented based on NI Software Defined Radios to handle all manipulation required. A LTE-V implementation will also be available.
These products are also the base of the integrated test solutions which combine the required signal sources to a unique easy to configure system.
V2X is based on the information exchange between different traffic participants via wireless communication methods. In order to ensure the accurate exchange and interpretation of the information sent between all traffic objects the physical transmission layer and message structure/content is standardized. Every participant therefore must prove its conformance in the RF-environment, as well as the compliance on the different protocol layers.
The standardization has been developed over the last 20 years and is specifically defined for the different regions of the world. In the EU the standardization is driven by ETSI, while in the US SAE and IEEE standards define V2X on the different layers.
For physical RF-transmission, standards such as 802.11p and alternatively LTE-V are used in regulated frequency bands. In the US the higher layers are defined by IEEE 1609.x, SAE J2735 and SAE J2945 (WAVE). In Europe the overall concept is named ITS-G5 and is mainly defined by ETSI EN302 665, ETSI EN 303 663. Japan is defined by ARIB and ISO standards.
For ADAS applications the information available to the vehicle by V2X is
